Resources For Parents
Here's a whole bunch of instruments, books and other cool stuff that I use, and recommend!
Desk Bells

These MINIARTIS Desk Bells for Kids are a fun, colorful way to introduce young children to the joy of music-making at home. With a simple press of the button, each bell produces a clear, bright note, making it easy for little hands to explore sound, pitch, listening, and early coordination. They’re wonderfully inviting for toddlers and young children because there’s no complicated technique required—just press and play, then smile at the music they create.
These bells are a fantastic resource for building musical confidence, turn-taking, color recognition, and simple melody skills in a playful, low-pressure way. Parents can use them for musical games, call-and-response activities, matching colors to songs, or just free creative play. Whether your child is already showing an interest in music or you simply want a screen-free activity that encourages listening and participation, MINIARTIS Desk Bells are a cheerful and engaging addition to your home music resources.
Keyboard - for Kids!

This is a basic electronic keyboard that is under USD$40, is powered by 6 AA batteries (so it doesn't need to be plugged in), that will keep you child engaged for hours! I always recommend a keyboard like this for preschoolers, as it stays in tune (as opposed to a uke or guitar), which will develop musical aptitude and pitch recognition. Keep it accessible to your child so they can explore it when they want to!
The Melodica

This is one of my favorite instruments to take to my classes and have the kids play (they press the keys, while I blow air through the tube to make it work!) It's an instrument I had as a preschooler (although mine had rainbow colored keys)Choose from different colors and know that your child is tuning their ears to the western harmonic series while on the go! Take it on holiday with you, in the car or in their bedroom... the melodica is a fun and educational instrument for ages 3+. Choose from: black, blue (pictured), green, pink or red!
Recorder (with rubber keys!)

This is the Nuvo Recorder+ and it's much easier and more fun to play than a traditional recorder. Due to it's unique silicon key system, the Nuvo Recorder+ enables beginners to progress more quickly which provides the inspiration to continue your child's musical journey! It comes with a hard plastic case, and there are different colors to choose from! A great way to introduce a child to wind instruments (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone etc...)
20 Piece Percussion Set

Here's a fun and colorful percussion set for your child! Featuring instruments such as a xylophone, egg shakers, maracas, tambourine/drum, bells, triangle, and more!!!Great for developing fine motor skills, color cognition and musical aptitude.Thee instruments are smooth and safe (non-toxic wood and lead free paint). Perfect for babies and toddlers.
1/16 Size Violin (2-3 yrs)

This 1/16 size student violin is a wonderful first violin for very young children and is the perfect size for many 2–3 year olds. It has a lovely, traditional look with a beautifully varnished wooden body and comes as a complete starter set with bow, lightweight case, rosin, strings, bridge, and even a rubber practice mute. It’s a charming way to introduce little ones to the look, feel, and sound of a real violin in a size that feels much more manageable for tiny hands.

For parents wanting to nurture an early interest in music, this violin offers a fun and inspiring first step into the world of string instruments. The included lightweight case makes it easy to bring to class, and the fine tuners help with easier adjustments. Like all violins, it needs regular tuning and a little care, but that’s all part of helping children learn that instruments are special, valuable, and exciting to look after.
Yoto Player (Audio Player)

I now have my debut children's album on Yoto Cards! So grab a Yoto Player so you can play it - no screen, no ads... just the sweet sounds of Mr. Simon and their favorite music, audio books and sleep sounds!

What is a Yoto Player? The smart speaker for kids that encourages independent, creative play through audio. So, that’s anything from stories to music, sleep radio to daily podcasts… even meditations or recordings of your own voice reading a favorite bedtime story or silly song.

Why do parents love Yoto? Aside from nurturing the growing imaginations of kids all over the world, Yoto Players are celebrated because they have no screen, no microphone, no camera and no ads! They even have customizable timers, a room thermometer and features to help with the bedtime and morning routine.
Yoto Mini (Audio Player)

The Yoto Mini Player is a fantastic little music player for young children and families. It’s compact, portable, easy to use, and most importantly, it sounds great. Whether you’re at home, in the car, or taking it along on an adventure, the Yoto Mini makes it easy for little ones to enjoy music in a fun, screen-free way.
Parents looking for a high-quality music player for their child will love how simple and engaging the Yoto Mini is. Kids can independently pop in a card and listen to their favorite songs anytime, while parents can feel good knowing they’re choosing a device designed especially for young listeners. The sound quality is impressive for such a small player, making it a wonderful way to enjoy music together as a family.
And now you can play Mr. Simon’s album, Beep, Moo, Koala and a Choo Choo, on the Yoto Mini too. Filled with joyful, playful songs for little ones, it’s a perfect match for this charming player—bringing music, movement, and fun wherever your family goes.
Tonibox (Audio Player)

Here's another children's audio player on the market that allows your child to listen to their favorite music (like Mr. Simon's new album - soon to be released), without handing over your phone or tablet exposing them to get more screen time. Although this is a much more basic unit (unlike the Yoto Player that has 24 hour family friendly radio, a daily podcast and much better sound quality - stereo speakers), the Tonibox's big selling feature is the fun little figurines called "Tonies" that the music/stories are stored on. It's also padded all around very well, so if your toddler drops it, it will just bounce!
Unleashing Their Creativity and Intelligence - Interested?
Learn how YOU (the parent), can set your child up to developing musical aptitude, creativity, confidence, brain functionality AND MUCH MORE!
Parents!! Are you interested in maximizing your child's potential? Apply these simple techniques in their first few critical years... NOW!!!
My good friend and fellow Aussie living in the US has developed a course that is designed to give information and instruction to parents! He firmly believes it can enable parents to help their babies and young children's brain develop quicker and stronger. It’s not hard, you don’t need to be a musician to do it! It's actually designed for adults that don't have any music experience or knowledge (and for those that do too!!! I learnt a lot doing the course myself.)
Further benefits for the child can include a higher level of self-confidence, along with a generally happier disposition. It will help them with music, but it will also help them enormously with other life skills.
Get this knowledge NOW before it's too late!!! The older your child gets, the more likely they're not going to benefit from their natural window of "Native Fluency".

BOOK: Skunka Tanka

One of my favorite books to do with the kids!
Meet Tanka, the elephant and his friend Skunka. Say their names together and they SOUND LIKE DRUMS! Tanka, Skunka, Tanka, Skunka, Tanka Tanka Skunk! They have lots of friends for you to meet, so say their names to the Tanka Skunka beat! Lemurs, llamas, zebras, badgers, caterpillars, big GORILLAS and yakety, yakety yaks.
The book takes the reader on a veritable roller-coaster ride of sights and sounds as animals leap and dance across the brightly coloured pages. Terrific fun to read aloud one to one with a small child, and an absolute riot for group activities.
